What to expect!
Info for Parents
With your help along the way, I work with your adolescent on coping skills, replacement behaviors, and create goals for becoming successful in all they take on.
Info for Young Adults
We create goals that will help shape our time together. You tell me what you want from our sessions, and I can listen, offer advice, help problem-solve, or be someone to bounce ideas off of. What you tell me is always between us, I encourage you to be the one to tell your parents and I help you with those conversations. I can’t always promise confidentiality, and I discuss this with you, but I want you to be the one to tell your parents as much as you can.
What I Actually Do
I work with adolescents to build self-esteem, lower symptoms of anxiety and depression, and do my best to treat them as the young adults they are. Growing up is hard, and technology and social media have made it even harder. I want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow in their mental health and know that they’re not alone.

Discover the heart behind EJG Counseling
I have been a high school counselor for 9 years and a high school teacher for 7 years before that. I enjoy working with adolescents ages 12-18 and have experience in most areas of mental health for this age group.
My areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, self-esteem, peer relationships, grief, self-harming, substance misuse, suicidal ideation, family conflict and others (just ask!)
I use a variety of ways to target these issues but primarily focus on Reality therapy, Culturally Sensitive therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief therapy. I take parts of all of these to work with clients and families for strategies they can implement effectively for positive changes.
